Summary of yesterday's matches

" I would favour Makarova " and she beat the screamer Azarenka 2-0 so a good start yesterday.

" Lay Wawrinka if he wins the first set". he won the first set and Nishikori consented to win the next 2 sets. Job done and a good call.

2-0 for Serena Williams was no surprise. The boy done good.

Laying the first set winner to win 3-0 set betting was a success in the Murray v Djokovic match as Djokovic won the first set and Murray won the 2nd . More good research.

On to today...

7pm approx. Berdych v Cilic - 1.64 Berdych

• Cilic has won 2 of the last 3 meetings between these 2 but Berdych has won the last 3 hard court head to heads.The last 4 meetings have seen wins to nil

Berdych

• 3rd, 3rd, 3rd , 2nd rounds for Berdych in tournaments prior to US Open.
• 2nd, semi, 3rd, 2nd round in recent hard court tournaments is inconclusive.
• 3-0, 3-2, 3-0., 3-0 this US Open and the 3-0's have seen the opponent score a maximum of 4 matches .

Cilic

• 3rd, 3rd prior to the US Open.
• 2-0, 3-0, 3-1, 3-2  in the US OPen and it's getting consistently harder for Cilic to get through. Will this pattern continue. If so, Cilic 3-0 set betting will be vulnerable if he happens to win the first set

Conclusion

• advantage Berdych I feel here. I note that Cilic has won 2 of the last 3 head to heads, but they were on grass. Berdych has a clear advantage on hard courts, so the best value is to lay Cilic should he win the first set.Or lay Cilic 3-1 should he win a set early in this contest

2am - Monfils v Federer - 1.3 Federer

• Things are tight between these 2 on hard courts., the last 3 hard court head to heads have been 2-1 , Monfils winning 2, and Federer 1. This immediately puts that 1.3 Federer at risk?
• 24th v 3rd in the world.
• Federer has tended to win the Majors between these 2.

Monfils

• 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd in recent tournaments.Lost to Federer on hard 1-2 as recently as 15th August this year.
• 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd on hard this year is unspectacular.In the US Open, 4 3-0 set wins is impressive, particularly against the fancied Dimitrov.

Federer

• Final, Final, Final, Final for the Fed recently  - what can you say!
• Quarters, Final, Final on hard surfaces recently for Fed. 
• 3-0, 3-0, 3-1, 3-0 in the US Open so far 

Conclusion

• Probably too late for all! Monfils will give the Federer a battle here I feel. Federer tends to win the Major meetings between these 2. Lay Monfils 3-0 if Monfils wins the first set, and lay Monfils 3-1 if he wins the 2nd set. Depends on the odds of course.
