530pm - Xanthi v Platanias - 1.89 home

Profitable in-play opportunities

545pm - CSKA Moscow v Volga Nyzhnyi Novgorod - 1.24 home
Standout stats
  • 5 wins out of 5 in league head to heads in favour of CSKA
  • this is 5th v 15th ( of 16)
  • This is really a must win for CSKA. a match in hand and only 8 points off top
  • Of course it goes without saying that every match is a must win for Volga
CSKA Moscow
  • only 2 defeats in 9 and post-Winter break, Loss, Win, Win
  • 4 consecutive wins at home
  • only 1 loss at home was v 3rd
  • all wins bar that loss and a 0-0 v bottom at home
  • solid first half at home, scoring 12 this season and conceding just 2
Volga
  • 7 defeats in 8 matches
  • 4 defeats in 5 away matches , conceding 6-5-3 and scoring in each one
  • only 3 clean sheets this season
  • against top 10, a score draw and 6 defeats.
  • Volga tend to concede 2+ away and on 2 occasions conceding 5 and 6
  • 64% over 3.5 goals away
  • conceding 17 1st half and 14 2nd half away this season

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • yes those prophetic words, this looks straightforward ( cue a Volga 0-3 win!!)
  • with the amount of goals Volga concede away, it is likely there could be a goal before halftime
  • Look for Volga to concede 2+ goals, up to 5/6 if CSKA really click
  • Volga have scored in heavy(ish) away defeats to top teamsn, so if they score first, CSKA should get back into this match
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6pm - Fenerbahce v Bursaspor - 1.38 home
Standout stats
  • Fenerbahce are unbeaten in recent head to heads and have scored 3-3-4-3 in recent meetings ( albeit 2 in the cup)
  • 1st v 12th. 7 points clear and 2 matches in hand. Complacency from Fener their only enemy?
Fenerbahce
  • only 4 defeats all season came away from home
  • 6 consecutive home wins
  • have failed to score in only 2 matches
  • have failed to score 2 goals at least at home in only 2 matches
  • have only conceded more than 1 goal at home v 3rd and 4th
  • 46% of home matches over 3.5 goals
Bursaspor
  • only 2 wins in their last 8 matches both came at home and without conceding
  • no win in 6 aways includes 4 consecutive away losses
  • have lost away to 2nd, 3rd and 4th
  • only 1 0-0 away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • famous last words, but this all looks a little straightforward for the home side, and as I said only complacency is their enemy presently. Bursaspor lose away to top 4, and Fenerbahce are clear in head to heads , scoring 3+ goals in the last 4 meetings. No halftime stats in Turkey.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6pm - Udinese v Catania - 1.73 home
Standout stats
  • Udinese, Udinese, Draw, Catania, Catania in the last 5 head to heads really makes my life easier.
  • 14th v bottom., Udinese are 11 points clear of the relegation zone. Catania will go 2nd bottom with a win, thanks to Sassuolo failing to get anything from Roma at the weekend
Udinese
  • only 2 defeats in 9, both away and 1 v Roma , sees Udinese in reasonable recent form
  • 3 wins and a draw in their last 4 at home
  • 5 clean sheets in their last 9 matches
  • unbeaten at home v teams below them with 3 wins and a draw
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home is around 43% of home matches
Catania
  • only 1 win in 12 funnily enough against Roma! 5 defeats and a draw in their last 6 matches
  • no away wins this season , all defeats bar 2 0-0 draws with 5th and 6th
  • all defeats saw them conceding 2 goals minimum
  • 5 0-0's at halftime away ( 1/3rd of away matches)
  • have only scored 7 away and conceded 34
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • head to heads relate that both teams can be competitive and the head to head momentum is with Catania .
  • Catania's away form is the obvious angle here. The best they can hope for seems to be a 0-0. Usually it's a 2 goal at least loss for them away
  • This might be 0-0 at halftime so no undue panic if it is.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Granada v Levante - 1.9 home
Standout stats
  • both teams scored in 4 head to heads apart from the last match a 0-1 90th minute Granada winner
  • 12th v 10th and Granada will be the most worried here, 3 points only from relegation
Granada
  • tough to beat in their last 4 matches with Ath Madrid only managing a 1-0 latest
  • an obvious story at home in their last 6 matches. -5 clean sheets and a 1-2 loss. 4 of those clean sheets resulted in wins
  • only 1 draw at home
  • 7 defeats and 2 2-0 wins against teams above them in the league
  • 7 0-0's at halftime at home - 47% of matches
Levante
  • 3 defeats in 4 and failed to score in 3 of those.
  • failed to score in 3 of their last 4 away matches
  • only 1 1-0 defeat , 3 wins and 3 draws away to teams below them in the league
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away ( 40% of matches)
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • need is greater with Granada, and recently they have shown their hand at home. Look for clean sheets and nick a win. And it's working!
  • So, this might be 0-0 for a while. Both sides have a high percentage of matches 0-0 at halftime ( back 0-0 pre-match)
  • Slight niggles here - Levanta seem able to cope against teams below them away and Granada loose more often v teams above them. These niggles might be negated by the proximity of these 2 teams in 12th and 10th
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Steaua Bucharest v Botosani - 1.23 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8pm - Livorno v Inter - 1.89 away
Standout stats
  • Inter win in head to heads but only one recent relevant head to head was a 2-0 this season
  • 18th v 5th. Livorno have a game in hand over those threatened with relegation and will push out of the zone with a win. Inter Milan want to consolidate 5th spot but are 16 points shy of a covetted 3rd spot
Livorno
  • only 3 wins in 19 matches sees Livorno in a spot of bother
  • a draw with Napoli and a win over Bologna in their last 2 home matches
  • only 3 clean sheets all season so will have to score 2 to win you'd think!
  • Failed to score at home to Juventus, Parma and Roma, drew 1-1 with napoli recently
  • tend to start scoring 2+ goals at home v 9th and lower
  • have conceded in their last 19 matches
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • no home 0-0
Inter Milan
  • a disappointing season. but have only lost 6 all season
  • only 2 wins in their last 6 matches
  • after 3 consecutive away defeats, Inter have won 2 and drawn 1 of their last 3 matches
  • only 1 defeat in 8 matches shows they are tough to beat currently
  • The sole defeat there was courtesy of a 90th minute Atalanta goal
  • Inter have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 matches
  • have beaten 2nd bottom and bottom 0-3 and 0-7 and are unbeaten home and away v 14th and below. 6 draws there though may offer solace to Livorno
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away
  • scored first in only half of away matches. Lost 2 1-0
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Inter tend to beat Livorno and keep a clean sheet. Livorno are having trouble scoring more than 1 goal against top 8 sides at home.
  • Only 3 clean sheets all season suggests Livorno will concede, it's simply a waiting game if 0-0 for a while ( a bit like Olympiakos last night!!)
  • Inter are tough to beat recently so I don't expect any shocks and will certainly get Livorno if Livorno score first
  • For you speculators, Inter scored 10 goals v bottom 2 away without conceding so if you want to back over 4.5 goals if 0-0 for a while ( or lay under 4.5 goals) you may get some action, although don't go overboard. This Livorno side are fighting for their lives
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8pm - Sunderland v West Ham - 2.22 home
Standout stats
  • Sunderland have conceded only 1 goal in the last 5 meetings with West Ham
  • this is 19th v 11th and you feel West Ham are safe. Sunderland will still be in the relegation zone with a win
Sunderland
  • 4 defeats and a 0-0 last 5 matches are really not helping the Sunderland survival cause.
  • have failed to score in 3 of their last 5 matches and in 4 of their last 5 home matches
  • have strangely failed to score at home to all teams played 13th and lower
  • only 3 0-0's at halftime at home
West Ham
  • a season salvaged with 5 wins in their last 8 matches
  • have lost their last 2 away matches
  • beat 3rd bottom 0-2 and lost 2-1 to bottom away from home
  • 7 0-0's at halftime away ( 47%)
Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a messy match. Historically Sunderland keep clean sheets against the Hammers. But lately they have been having trouble scoring a goal which beckons in a 0-0 back to lay trade? How on earth can Sunderland win if they have failed to score at home to teams 13th and lower?
  • West Ham's recent flurry of wins was most welcome to their Premiership hopes and they look the most likely despite the aforementioned inability to score against Sunderland in head to heads
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Betis v Malaga - 2.26 home
Standout stats
  • another match I would ordinarily not bother with but let's see what the stats come up with
  • Betis won the last head to head at Betis 3-0 but sandwiched between a 3-2 and 4-0 Malaga home win
  • 20th v 14th and realistically betis are down . Malaga themselves are 2 points from relegation
Betis
  • only 1 defeat in 5 for Betis so they're fighting for it, but are 8 points shy of 2nd bottom
  • failing to score in 5 of their last 8 matches is a concern though
  • Betis's positive home results have come against 7th-13th inclusive where they have won won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1. Of course malaga are just below 13th
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home ( 33%)
Malaga
  • only 2 defeats in 6 for Malaga, both at home and one v Real Madrid so reasonable recent form
  • Draw and 2 wins in their last 3 away matches with all clean sheets
  • solid against teams below them away with 3 clean sheets, 2 draws, 2 wins
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • A laissez-faire attitude from Betis might see a positive turn? Only 1 defeat in 5.
  • malaga tend to cope with teams below them when away from home so I would favour them in what is a relegation 6 pointer ( I expect Betis to be professional until it's a mathematical certainty they are down)
  • This might be 0-0 for a while

SUNDAY

11am - Valladolid v Almeria - 1.96 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

1130am - Feyenoord v Go Ahead Eagles - 1.28 home
Standout stats
  • only 1 head to head of relevance was a 2-2 and Go ahead salvaged a point with a late 90th minute equaliser
  • 5th v 15th. 2nd place is within reach for Feyenoord and If Ajax lose a couple, well the title might be in grasp so it is key that Feyenoord win these home matches when expected to do so
  • go ahead eagles are 3 points clear of relegation so have their own needs
Feyenoord
  • only 2 defeats in 14 matches, and one was against Ajax.
  • have failed to score in only 1 match this season
  • we see 4/5 goals at home to 14th and lower which sort of ties in with a 1.28 quote today
  • have scored in all home matches
  • 50% of home matches are over 3.5 goals
  • only 1 0-0 at halftime at home
  • have scored a whopping 12 goals in the last 1/4 hour of the first half and 9 in the first quarter hour of the 2nd half
Go ahead
  • only 2 wins in 10 matches came at home and against AZ and Twente
  • 6 defeats and a draw in their last 7 away matches
  • only 2 clean sheets all season
  • have lost all away matches played v top 12 teams, conceding 3 goals minimum v top 7 away
  • have conceded in all away matches
  • only 3 0-0's at halftime away
  • have conceded most goals in the 1st quarter hour of the 2nd half

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • the stats point to a 3 goal minimum haul by Feyenoord today. Do beware these top v bottom clashes ( Palace v Chelsea anyone?)
  • Go ahead simply struggle away and against a team with only 2 defeats in 14 matches, they are unlikely to get anything out of this match.
  • there could be a goal before halftime, stats wise and with the fact this is dutch football.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1130am - Sassuolo v Roma - 1.56 away
Standout stats
  • A 90th minute Sassuolo equaliser ensured a 1-1 last time these 2 met
  • this is 19th v 2nd, or 2nd bottom v 2nd top
  • a win sees Roma close the gap to 11 points to Juventus. A win keeps Sassuolo 2nd bottom
Sassuolo
  • only 2 wins in 17 matches , both home wins saw Sassuolo needing 4 and 3 goals
  • only 3 clean sheets all season should see a Roma goal at some stage
  • have lost at home to 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th , without scoring
  • no draw in 12 at home
  • have conceded in their last 9 home matches
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home is about 33%
  • have scored first in only 2 of 15 home matches
Roma
  • only 2 defeats all season came away v napoli and Juventus
  • have only failed to score in 5 this season
  • have beaten 16th, 17th and 18th away from home 0-2, 0-1, 0-2
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away ( 43% of away matches)
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • all about need, this match. Roma want to cling on to 2nd and keep Juventus honest. Sassuolo need points sharpish
  • Stats point to a possible 0-0 at halftime, but Sassuolo matches tend to be unpredictable at best ( 4-3 v AC Milan an example!)
  • Roma seem comfortable v bottom 6 sides away, so best case for them would be a win to nil, best 0-2
  • Sassuolou have been avoiding the draw of late. Is that an angle in?

1245pm - FC Zurich v Lausanne - 1.45 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1245pm - Hearts v Hibernian - 2.18 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1pm - PAOK v AEL Kalloni - 1.24 home
Standout stats
  • a 2-5 win for PAOK last time these 2 met earlier in the season
  • 2nd v 12th. Olympiakos are slipping up of late but a 17 point gap is surely insurmountable for PAOK. There is a battle for 2nd though which will keep them honest
  • Kalloni are some 5 points from relegation. Enough?
PAOK
  • unbeaten in 6 matches
  • 7 consecutive home wins
  • have scored and conceded in 9 of their last 11 matches
  • have failed to score in only 4 matches this season
  • unbeaten at home with only 1 draw
  • have scored in their last 11 matches
  • 73% over 2.5 goals at home
Kalloni
  • only 3 draws all season
  • spanked by Panathanaikos latest and Pana were similarly priced to PAOK
  • no win in 5 away matches and have conceded 10 and scored none in their last 2 matches
  • have failed to score in 7 of their last 11 matches
  • only 3 wins in their last 11 matches came at home
  • have lost all matches home and away v top 6
  • have conceded in their last 9 away matches
  • no 0-0 away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • I said after Kalloni's 7-0 tonking away that we might see a defensive reaction against panathanaikos but no they lost 3-0. And in PAOK  we have another side capable of damaging Kalloni
  • PAOK will score at some stage, so say the stats and this might be another win to nil despite PAOK conceding in 9 of their last 11 matches
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

130pm - Ajax v Twente - 1.9 home
Standout stats
  • Twente's only win in recent head to heads came in a "super cup" match. Draw, Ajax, Ajax, Ajax, Draw in the recent head to heads
  • this is 1st v 3rd. I think this match is more important for Twente than Ajax. Twente can move to within 4 points of Ajax with a win. If Ajax win, the gap will be 10 points. So this is a must win if Twente want a title hope.
Ajax
  • only 3 defeats all season .
  • no defeat in 16 matches
  • only one loss at home was v Vitesse.
  • 6 wins and a 1-1 draw in their last 7 home matches
  • have failed to score in only 4 matches this season
  • 71% over 2.5 goals at home
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home ( 36% of home matches)
  • superb at home. Have scored 21 of their 34 home goals in the 2nd half and only conceded 5 all season
  • no opponent has led at halftime at Ajax
Twente
  • only 4 defeats all season
  • have not won in 4 away matches and 2 of the 4 defeats all season came in the last 4 away matches
  • only 2 wins in 7 matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 matches all season
  • only 2 clean sheets in 19 matches
  • have lost away to 2nd and 4th
  • have scored 15 away goals in the last 1/2 hour

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Ask Barcelona, ask Man Utd ( against Olympiakos). Ask Atl Madrid. MUST WINS tend to win, right? Will this be the case for Twente today?
  • They are on a par with Ajax  - Ajax 3 losses only - Twente 4 losses only
  • Ajax are clear in head to heads so based solely on that they must be favourited. No defeat in 16 matches plays a side conceding in 17 of their last 19 matches.
  • This part of the season can sometimes throw up the odd result. Stats wise though, Twente have lost to top 5 away, have only 2 wins in 7 matches .
  • Both teams could score today
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

130pm - Cambuur v AZ Alkmaar - 2.48 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

130pm - Fulham v Everton - 1.82 away
Standout stats
  • Fulham are unbeaten in the last 2 head to heads at home, albeit the last was a League Cup match. Both teams have scored in 3 of the last 4 meetings
  • this is 20th v 5th. A reprieve is possible for Fulham, and 4th place is possible for Everton, particularly if Arsenal continue to draw when they should win
Fulham
  • only 1 win in 11 matches was a 1-0 v Newcastle
  • only 4 clean sheets all season
  • have lost all matches at home to top 7 this season, scoring in all too. Conceded between 2-4 goals v top 7 at home
  • 13 at home without a draw
  • 73% over 2.5 goals at home and 40% over 3.5 goals, so Fulham don't go quietly!!
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home is quite high at 40%
  • no 0-0 this season
  • have conceded a whopping 17 goals in the last 1/2 hour of home matches

Everton
  • only 5 defeats all season, 3 of the last 4 were 1-0's
  • 4 consecutive wins , 3 at home and latterly a 0-3 away win against Newcastle
  • Everton away from home have only lost to top 6 sides
  • BUT note they have only drawn with the bottom 5 sides they have played away 1-1, 0-0, 0-0
  • 10 0-0's at halftime away from home is 2/3rds of away matches
  • have scored 13 of their 17 away goals in the last 1/2 hour of matches

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • this looks like a concerted 0-0 if the stats continue.
  • Be prepared in the 60th+ minute mark for goals , usually concessions for Fulham and scoring from Everton.
  • Watch out both teams could score today, Fulham have scored in defeat to all of the top 7 they have played at home this season
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2pm - Lazio v Parma - 2.2 home
Standout stats
  • Lazio have won the last 4 meetings at home  and the last 2 2-1
  • 9th v 6th. A top 5 spot is still up for grabs for parma
Lazio
  • only 1 win in 4 matches
  • only 1 win in 5 at home was a 3-2 v Sassuolo
  • Find the top 8 difficult to crack at home. Only 1 win was a 1-0 v Inter Milan.Failed to score v 2nd, 4th and 7th
  • all wins bar 1 at home have come v 14th and lower
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home is about 43%
Parma
  • are clearly the inform side here despite a loss to Juventus last time out. That was their first loss in 18 matches ( since Juventus beat them before!!)
  • that recent loss was an away loss and was preceded by 5 consecutive away wins
  • have failed to score in only 6 matches all season
  • losses away to 1st, 11th, 13th and 14th. BUT note the recent excellent run which might suggest those away defeats v 11th etc came at a bad time for parma
  • they have scored in the last 9 away matches
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
  • have scored 10 away goals in the last 1/4 hour of matches
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • why on earth are Lazio favourites here, albeit not strong favs by any stretch? Parma are clearly the form side here, on a superb run with only 1st placed Juventus the only team to beat them in 18 matches. Parma have the motivation too to enter the top 5.
  • Lazio also have trouble at home to top 8 sides and only really win v 14th and lower
  • strange betting market! I would favour Parma stats wise

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2pm - Osijek v Dinamo Zagreb - 1.48 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

2pm - Sampdoria v Fiorentina - 2.62 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

2pm - Torino v Cagliari - 1.94 home
Standout stats
  • Cagliari are unbeaten in their last 6 head to heads yet the home team are the odds on team here.
  • Cagliari have won 0-1 the last 2 times they have visited Torino
  • this is 11th v 15th. Cagliari are 6 points clear of the relegation zone. I doubt that is enough if teams below them win and they drop points between now and the end of the season
Torino
  • 5 defeats in their last 6 matches
  • only 4 home defeats were against 1st ( 0-1), 3rd (0-1), 9th (0-2) and 17th (1-2)
  • beat 16th, 18th, 19th, 20th at home and are playing 15th today
  • have conceded in their last 9 matches
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home ( 33% of matches )
  • Immobile and Cerci the key home goal scorers
Cagliari
  • only 3 wins in 15 matches were all at home and were all wins to nil.
  • Away from home , have scored 0-0-0-0-0-1-1-0  - this is the problem
  • no wins away for Cagliari and have not scored more than 1 goal away which makes things rather restricted to 0-1 or 1-1 if they want to win any points away from home
  • have lost the away matches played v 7th-14th inclusive , exactly where Torino currently reside
  • 8 0-0's at halftime away from home is about 57%

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • we've seen a few of these matches this season, where the less favoured side is actually the side who seem to win in head to heads. This is the case with Cagliari who are unbeaten in 6 of 7 head to heads and actually won the last 2 visits to Torino 0-1. This ties in with Cagliari's inability to score more than 1 goal away all season so best case for them looks to be 0-1.
  • this match might be 0-0 for a while so don't be surprised.
  • Torino have lost 5 of their last 6 matches so are as trustworthy as Arfur Daley.
  • Tough to get a really solid angle in here. Lay Cagliari perhaps if they lead 0-1 ( with an insurance bet perhaps on the 0-1) just incase they continue to fail to score 2 in an away match
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2pm - Verona v Genoa - 2.24 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2pm - Vise v Eupen - 1.28 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

230pm - Mgladbach v Hamburg - 1.76 home
Standout stats
  • 3 score draws ened with a win for both sides
  • this is 6th v 16th. 4th place is open for Mgladbach and of course Hamburg desperately need points
Mgladbach
  • only 2 wins in 12 matches came in their last 3 matches
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches
  • only 1 clean sheet in 11 matches
  • against 9th and lower at home, Mgladbach have won 7 and drawn 1 2-2 so Hamburg should be within their compass
  • 71% over 2.5 goals at home
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • no 0-0's at home
  • have scored a massive 10 goals in the 61st-75th minute at home
Hamburg
  • only 2 wins in 14 matches , one was against  a faltering Dortmund as explained earlier
  • 5 consecutive away defeats
  • Hamburg have only 2 away wins v 14th and 15th.
  • have conceded in their last 7 away matches
  • 70% over 2.5 goals away from home
  • no 0-0 this season
  • interestingly Hamburg have conceded 9 goals in the 61st-75th minute away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • both sides are in really poor form.
  • This should not end 0-0
  • watch out for possible goals in the 1 hour mark.
  • Mgladbach are solid against lower position teams so perhaps it favours them in this match. Hamburg's away wins have come v 14th and lower away
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

330pm - ADO Den Haag v Zwolle - 1.87 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4pm - Lille v Guingamp - 1.6 home
Standout stats
  • only one head to head of relevance was a 0-0
  • this is 3rd v 14th. Lille will be wanting to stay in 3rd as it seems 2nd is out of their reach
Lille
  • unbeaten in 7 matches
  • 4 draws in their last 6 matches
  • have kept 4 consecutive clean sheets at home
  • only 2 defeats at home v 7th and 11th
  • Lille look comfortable v 12th and lower, conceding in only 1 of 7 matches
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home, 33% overs at home
  • have scored 20 at home and conceded 6 only
Guincamp
  • no draw in 8
  • have won their last 2 away matches , the only 2 wins in 8 matches
  • have not beaten any top 10 team home or away this season. Damning evidence?
  • 7 0-0's at halftime away from home ( 50% of away matches)
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • the looks very straightforward. Guincamp cannot beat top 10 teams home and away, Lille tend to keep clean sheets at home v 12th and lower.
  • There is a chance this might be a 0-0 at halftime.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4pm - Liverpool v Tottenham - 1.49 home
Standout stats
  • Liverpool have won the 2 2013 head to heads quite comfortably and are priced for an easy afternoon at Anfield
  • 2nd v 6th. Liverpool simply must keep winning and hope Chelsea and Arsenal slip up. Tottenham have 5th place to consider although I feel that Tim Sherwood is being " found out" a bit lately
Liverpool
  • 7 consecutive wins in a run of 12 unbeaten for Liverpool
  • they have been firing in the goals too - 5-3-4-3-3-6-2 in those wins
  • have failed to score in only 2 matches
  • 11 home wins in their last 12 matches and they must keep Sturridge and Suarez fit ( oh and Skrtel who has out scored Torres this year lol)
  • easy wins against 4th and 5th at home
  • have scored in their last 21 matches
  • 73% over 2.5 goals at home, 67% over 3.5 goals at home
  • only 1 0-0 at halftime all season - a stat that paid well at the weekend v Stoke
  • Suarez and Sturridge are key to home goal scoring. Any absence by one or both will impact Liverpool greatly.
  • have scored 30 home goals in the first half to the concession of only 4
Tottenham
  • 3 defeats in the last 5 matches and 2 consecutive away defeats. Recent defeats to Chelsea and Arsenal suggest Liverpool will be a bridge too far
  • failed to score in 3 of their last 5 matches, all 3 ending in defeat
  • 6 defeats and a 1-1 draw with Chelsea home and away v top 4 this season
  • have failed to score away to the top 5 sides they have played so far
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away from home
  • scored 15 of their 23 away goals in the 2nd half
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Liverpool seem to regularly get that goal before halftime which aids the 0-0 halftime score lay.
  • Spurs still have not scored an away goal v top 5. any reason for that to change today?
  • Liverpool are expected to score 2 minimum today
  • Liverpool have scored in their last 21 matches so if this were to unexpectedly be 0-0 for a while, lay it
  • make sure Suarez and Sturridge play for Liverpool if you are after a goals punt
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4pm - Osasuna v Sociedad - 2.44 away
Standout stats
  • Osasuna kept 4 clean sheets in head to heads until a sudden 5-0 spanking by Sociedad in the last head to head.
  • this is 17th v 6th and another toughie based on the betting market and the need of both sides for 3 points
Osasuna
  • 5 consecutive defeats, failing to score in 4 of those matches
  • what an unpredictable team, beating the likes of Atl Madrid at home and then losing the next 2 matches
  • against the top 7 at home, Sociedad beat 1st but drew at home to 2nd , 3rd and lost to 4th, 5th and 7th. A case of putting on a show when the big boys come to town
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime at home
Sociedad
  • 3 defeats in their last 8 matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 of 22 matches
  • only 1 win in their last 6 matches away
  • poor record v top 6 away, 1-1 v 15th, 4-3 loss to 16th, and 2-2 draws v 18th and 19th
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • It seems Osasuna at home are superb against the big 3 but then cannot be arsed v the rest! Sociedad are 6th so where do they fit in?
  • Sociedad themselves should get a goal today but they have been unable to beat the bottom 6 away this season
  • Stats wise, both teams could score today and we could see a goal before halftime so lay the 0-0 halftime score low and late
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

430pm - Hannover v W Bremen - 1.92 home
Standout stats
  • this match seems to favour the home side . Werder have won the last 3 meetings at Werder, and Hannover have won the last 2 meetings at Hannover 3-2
  • this is 12th v 13th - both have identical points and are some 5 points clear of the relegation zone. Expect a keenly fought contest today>
Hannover
  • only 1 win in the last 8 matches and 2 consecutive defeats conceding 3 goals
  • have only kept 4 clean sheets all season.
  • have only lost 3 matches at home against 1st, 2nd and 10th
  • 3 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored 8 of their 13 awya goals in the last 1/4 hour of matches
W Bremen
  • only 3 wins in 16 matches
  • Like Hannover, they have lost their last 2 matches, conceding 3 goals in each
  • have lost all bar one of their away matches v 9th and above.
  • have conceded 9 away goals directly after halftime

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • not really enthused about this match. We don't have to trade every match, that's the advantage we have. If I were to get involved there is a suggestion that both teams could score, and that historically the home team are favoured.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

430pm - Malmo FF v Falkenbergs - 1.29 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

5pm - Braga v Benfica - 1.88 away
Standout stats
  • 3 wins and a 2-2 draw in favour of Benfica in head to heads
  • 6th v 1st. Benfica have played a game less than Sporting lisbon so can really turn the screw with a win , already being 4 points clear
  • Braga still have 5th spot to fight for I suppose, whatever benefit that position bestows
Braga
  • only 2 wins in 9 matches have come at home
  • 2 consecutive 1-1 draws away
  • have scored and conceded in the last 9 matches
  • have scored in their last 12 matches
  • have kept a clean sheet in only 4 matches this season
  • lost 1-2 to Sporting lisbon at home, but beat 4th and 5th at home 3-2 and 2-1 I think top of the league is a step too far for Braga
  • 67% over 2.5 goals at home, 2/3rds of matches
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime at home
  • start off really well at home, scoring 7 within the first 1/4 hour
Benfica
  • I introduced you to Tampines rovers the other day. Well Benfica I also backed at about 130 earlier this season and they won. Take a look at the 2nd match of the season at home to Gil Vicente
  • only 1 defeat all season came in the first match
  • Have won the rest bar 4 score draws
  • 7 consecutive wins
  • drew away to 2nd and lost away to 9th ( first match of the season)
  • no defeat in 23 and have scored in their last 24 matches
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away is about a 1/3rd of matches
  • 17 goals scored away between the 30th and 75th minutes!
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • not a must win for Benfica but a "would be nice to win" to take advantage of a game in hand
  • Benfica are likely to score at some stage here and such is their form they should remain unbeaten ., so if Braga lead, lay them
  • Braga have scored in their last 12 matches and scored in home defeat to Sporting so there is evidence that they might get a goal.
  • Toss of a coin really as regards a goal before halftime. I would side with a lay of 0-0 halftime score really late 1st half ( remember Benfica get motoring goalswise on the 30 minute mark away)

530pm - Arsenal v Man City - 2.12 away
Standout stats
  • the old urban myth that Arsenal cannot beat the top teams is put to the test today
  • 2-0 to the ....... Man City in their last 2 visits to Arsenal.
  • this is 4th v 3rd. The title seems Manchester City's to lose. They have 2 games in hand over Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal
  • Arsenal are 6 points shy of the leader
  • neither side has Champions League commitments anymore so this is a straight out fight for the title
Arsenal
  • only 2 wins in 7 matches and the wheels are rather falling off the Arsenal bandwagon
  • A 2-2 v Swansea last home match was such a blow , a 90th  minute own goal
  • I suppose it could be argued that Arsenal have had a tough run in lately, playing the likes of Liverpool away, Manchester United at home, Tottenham and Chelsea.
  • only failed to score in 5 matches this season
  • only 1 defeat this season was an anomolous debut match v Aston Villa
  • have kept clean sheets at home to 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th
  • are undefeated in 14 home matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home ( 40% )
  • have scored 28 home goals
Man City
  • only 1 win in 18 matches was a 0-1 loss to Chelsea
  • 14 wins, a draw and a loss in their last 16 matches and now 4 consecutive wins
  • 5 consecutive clean sheets
  • have failed to score in 4 matches only this season
  • have only played 1 of the top 5 away , v 1st
  • no defeat in 9 away matches
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away from home
  • have scored 19 of their 31 goals in the 2nd half.
  • only conceded 4 goals in the first half away but 14 in the 2nd half
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • this is a match for Arsenal to stay in the title race. The draw with Stoke I fear sounded the death knell to another trophy-less season ( join our Sunday league cup competition Arsene, you might crack that one!!)
  • these matches are so hard to solve. But statistically it is Man City who clearly have the momentum and Arsenal, with only 2 wins in 7 matches , who are faltering.
  • no defeat in 14 though for Arsenal must count for something. Clean sheets for Arsenal at home to 1st and 2nd in particular might reflect Arsene's specific tactic at home to the big boys?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

530pm - Freiburg v Nurnberg - 2.2 home
Standout stats
  • Freiburg are unbeaten in 4 with 2 draws and 2 wins ,scoring 3
  • 15th v 14th and a relegation 6 pointer

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

545pm - Vitesse v Heerenveen - 1.65 home
Standout stats
  • both teams have scored in the last 7 head to heads
  • Vitesse won 2-3 in the last meeting after being 2-0 down
  • this is 4th v 6th. Vitesse are 7 points shy of Ajax in first place and Ajax have a game in hand. 2nd spot is still a more realistic goal
Vitesse
  • 2 consecutive defeats v Groningen and PSV
  • Prior to that home loss to PSV, Vitesse had 8 unbeaten home matches
  • 5 consecutive over 2.5 goals matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 matches this season
  • have only lost at home in 3 matches v top 7
  • lost at home to 5th and 7th and are playing 6th today. Vulnerable?
  • 71% over 2.5 goals at home
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime at home
  • only 1 0-0 all season
  • have scored 8 home goals in the last 1/4 hour
Heerenveen
  • very inconsistent
  • LWLWL away recently ( L=Loss, W=Win)
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches this season
  • have kept only 4 clean sheets this season
  • 11 over 2.5 goals matches in their last 14
  • don't have a good record home or away v teams above them. LDDL away v top 5 ( L=Loss and D=Draw)
  • have conceded in their last 13 away matches
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Heerenveen seem to have a problem home and away v teams above them in the league. Will they continue to fail to win v PSV?
  • PSV have failed to score in only 3 all season and Heerenveen have conceded in their last 13 so expect Heerenveen to concede at some stage.
  • Over 2.5 goals looks like coming in based on the stats so perhaps lay any team leading 0-2 in the hope both teams contribute to an over 2.5 goals match
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6pm - Red Bull Salzburg v FC Wacker Innsbruck - 1.1 home

7pm - Ajaccio v Toulouse - 1.99 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

7pm - Ath Bilbao v Atl Madrid - 2.46 away
Standout stats

  • the push for the title begins. A 2-2 draw for Real Madrid and their upcoming Champions League matches , and those of Barcelona , suggests Atl Madrid must take advantage when they can. 2.46 though suggests this is an extremely tough fixture for Atl Madrid
  • 6 wins and a loss for Atl Madrid in head to heads, albeit the last 2 were cup matches
  • Why are they only 2.46 today?
  • Maybe it's the curse of the Champions League. They play Barcelona away on the 1st April 2014 - I didn't realise Atl MAdrid were still in the CL! Well well!
  • this is 4th v 1st. Bilbao are simply "the best of the rest"
Ath Bilbao
  • only 3 defeats in 23 matches
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches all season and did so in their last match. 2 consecutive 0-0's???
  • 0-0-1-1-0-0 conceded in their last 6 matches
  • only 1 defeat at home. Have beaten Barcelona at home 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with real Madrid at home, hence I suppose why Atl Madrid are priced as they are.
  • have scored in their last 15 matches
  • only 3 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored an eyecatching 20 goals at home in the last 1/2 hour of matches. Local support sucking that ball into the net at the end of matches!!
  • scored first in only 1/2 of home matches
Atl Madrid
  • beware the curse of the Champions League, as Atl Madrid take on Barcelona on the 1st April
  • only 3 defeats all season came away from home
  • 4 consecutive clean sheets includes 2 0-2 away wins.
  • 4 consecutive 0-0's at halftime
  • beat Real Madrid 0-1 away, and beat 5th 1-3, and 6th 1-2 away
  • 7 0-0's at halftime away ( 1/2 of their away matches)
  • no 0-0 away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • this is a toughie and we need to see team news for Atl MAdrid. What a headscratcher for the manager. They need to push for the 3 points, while retaining fitness for the Champions League.
  • Head to heads show Atl Madrid have the measure of Ath Bilbao, but beating a team with only 3 defeats in 23 , and a win and draw v 2nd and 3rd at home, will be a tough task.
  • 4 consecutive clean sheets for Madrid suggests they'll build from the back, and we might see another 0-0 at halftime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Evian TG v Monaco  -1.91 away
Standout stats
  • 1-1 earlier this season saw Evian score first. Evian are the sole conquerors of PSG this season ( for what it's worth!)
  • 17th v 2nd/ 3 points from relegation plays 10 points from top.

Evian
  • only 2 wins in 14 matches
  • only 5 clean sheets all season
  • beat PSG 2-0 at home and drew 2-2 with 3rd . Also 2-1 win v 5th at home. Evian seem to cope with the big teams at home!
  • against top 9 at home, have scored and coincided in 6 of the 7 matches played
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored first in 10 of 15 home matches
Monaco
  • only 3 defeats all season
  • have conceded 2 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches
  • have scored and conceded in 6 of their last 8 matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 matches
  • have lost away to 3rd and 4th only
  • 3 0-0's away from home
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • statistically a team losing only 3 matches all season is more likely to be winning and drawing.
  • Evian have a great record at home v top 5 but have only 2 wins in 14 matches and only 5 clean sheets which suggests they will concede.
  • Both teams might score today statistically speaking.
  • Evian have scored first in 10 of 15 matches. You'll have to decide if they are vulnerable if scoring first today, remember they are unbeaten at home to top 5!

7pm - Gent v Oostende - 1.54 home

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

715pm - Plzen v Slovan Liberec - 1.58 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - AC Milan v Chievo - 1.45 home
Standout stats
  • 2013 head to heads were 0-0 and 0-1 to Milan
  • We've rarely seen AC Milan at this price in a forgettable season
  • 12th v 16th. And AC Milan's season seems over now. Chievo though are only 3 points from the relegation zone
AC Milan
  • only 1 win in 5 and 2 consecutive defeats at home. They are priced to end that run
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches this season
  • all defeats at home have come v top 6
  • against 7th and lower at home, AC Milan scored 3-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-1 . More likely to score the 1 than the 3!! And scoring a single goal means a clean sheet is a necessity
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • no home 0-0's
Chievo
  • only 2 away wins were 0-1
  • have lost away to 11th, 13th and 14th ( playing 12th today)
  • have conceded in their last 7 away matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away  ( 40% of matches)
  • 2 0-0's away from home
  • have scord 9 away and conceded 25

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • 1.45 looks really short for an AC Milan side who have been really poor this season and scored a whole raft of single goals in home matches.
  • That said, they are on a 2 home match run of defeats which is something that needs to end.
  • Chievo need the points more than AC Milan, but scoring only 9 goals away all season is a terrible return. Chievo are likely to concede as they have done in their last 7 away matches.
  • No surprise were this 0-0 at halftime
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - Cobh Ramblers v Longford - 1.32 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - PSV v Groningen - 1.32 home
Standout stats
  • Groningen won the last encounter 1-0 at home. That's not what normally happens when these 2 meet
  • this is 2nd v 9th - a must win really for PSV as their title hopes are alive but Ajax still have that game in hand
PSV
  • can't do much more than they're doing. 8 consecutive wins
  • PSV have won their last 6 home matches
  • they have failed to score in only 4 matches all season
  • have kept only 4 clean sheets in 22 matches
  • only 1 loss at home was against 4th
  • draws against 8th and 10th and playing 9th today
  • no draw in 15 matches now for PSV
  • have scored in their last 11 at home
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home, roughly 36% of home matches
  • no opponent has led at PSV at halftime at home
Groningen
  • only 3 wins in 16 matches includes a win last time out, at home
  • 4 consecutive away defeats
  • have failed to score in only 6 matches all season
  • have kept only 5 clean sheets
  • only 2 wins away v 12th and 17th
  • lost away to 1st and 3rd
  • have conceded in their last 7 aways
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • will this winning momentum continue for PSV?
  • PSV and Groningen could both score. They score much more often than not this season.
  • If Groningen are leading in the first half, lay them in the halftime market
  • PSV are favoured currently based on their winning run, and Groningen only beating 2 teams away from home
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

815pm - Sp Lisbon v Guimaraes - 1.45 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Real Madrid v Rayo Vallecano - 1.06 home

  • no research here really. It's simply a case of faith in the odds. Barcelona were similarly priced recently and only won 3-0 so expect perhaps a functional win rather than the mauling the odds suggest. As the odds suggest, normally we'd expect a goal before halftime at the very least. Rayo are safe in the middle of the table .
  • Real Madrid are playing Dortmund in the Champions League on the 2nd April. Will the curse strike? Well, laying a team at 1.07 is hardly going to break the bank, but should be treated as a lay to nothing.

FRIDAY

The over 2.5 goals came in the PAOK match. Here we also had a team 0-3 up at halftime. You layed them right? Minimal risk, maximum return. As it happened Apollon drew 3-3 lol!

The Villareal v Getafe match was messy and I went for avoiding the draw. Villareal won 0-1

The goal came before halftime in the Sociedad match and it was Sociedad's only goal. We'll see this a lot now, edgy 1-0 wins as bottom half teams are desperate to hang on

AZ v Ajax I just had no real angle into. Ajax won 0-1

Inter v Udinese finished 0-0, and yes, I was right that this Inter side are having real trouble scoring of late.

Yet again we had another 0-2 away scoreline before halftime and, as research indicated, an Almeria team desperate for points and with a solid home record. Did you lay Valencia therefore using the 0-2/0-3 scorelines before halftime idea? You'd have cleaned up for the 2nd time on the night if you had!!

Congrats to Betis, still fighting and winning, although I had no interest in the match

before I go I'd like to share this photo with you. I am afraid I cannot cover all matches so do look out yourselves. This match I stumbled upon yesterday. Tampines Rovers were 1.14 shots to an away side who tend to concede late goals.

Tampines Rovers were.0-2 down. I waited and waited. It came to the 92nd minute. They were still 1-2 down. I backed Tampines at measly odds of 140 ( it was an illiquid market and their odds should have been much higher) and lo and behold they won. That's 2 100+ odds bets this season which have come off. DRT works!!

Onto today and it's a quiet day. Remember the "curse of the Champions League" this weekend. It begins with a PSG side away from home this evening, who play Chelsea next weekend. PSG have not done a "Dortmund" and tended to lose before Champions League match so I hope the stats prove themselves reliable.

5pm - Hajduk Split v Zadar - 1.21 home
Another match to note in-play. It's not featured at www.soccerstats.com so I won't prioritse. It's a match to react to if Zadar take the lead

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

530pm - SCR Altach v SV Horn - 1.35 home
This Austrian league match is simply one to keep any eye on if Horn happen to score first.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

730pm - Club Brugge v Lokeren - 1.77 home
Standout stats
  • 4 consecutive wins in head to heads for Club Brugge
  • this is 2nd v 5th
  • the season is over and we are now entering the play off stage where I need a phone line to Carol Vorderman to get my head round it! So no research here I'm afraid as the season long stats refer to league matches not these play off matches. Head to heads are rather conclusive though?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

730pm - Nice v Paris St-G - 1.44 away
Standout stats
  • PSG have won the last 2 head to heads, scoring 3
  • 11th v 1st. Is 10 points enough of a gap for PSG to take their foot off the gas? We see what happens with the likes of Olympiakos taking their eyes off the ball thinking the job is done
  • mid table mediocrity for Nice
Nice
  • unbeaten in 3 matches.
  • have lost only 1 of their last 7 home matches.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime in their last 6 home matches
  • Nice have lost at home to 2nd, 4th, 8th and 9th. They beat 2nd and 6th 1-0 so perhaps a 1-0 insurance bet?
  • 3 0-0's at halftime at home
  • only 1 0-0 all season
PSG
  • only 1 defeat all season
  • no defeat in 7 away and 14 overall
  • 6 consecutive wins
  • 7 clean sheets in their last 10 matches
  • have failed to score in only 1 match this season
  • wins v 6th-13th inclusive away from home with Nice positioned bang in the middle of that group
  • only 2 0-0's away from home
  • no 0-0 this season
  • scored 42 home goals but only 28 away goals.
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Nice don't seem to be going anywhere fast and PSG have a comfortable lead and a home match against Chelsea on the 2nd April.
  • If Nice win, it is likely to be a 1-0. So if they score first and early, perhaps back the 1-0 scoreline and lay Nice in the match odds market.
  • this match should not end 0-0 so if we get a concerted 0-0, lay it late and low.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

730pm - Schalke v Hertha Berlin - 1.76 home
Standout stats
  • 6 wins and a 0-0 in Schalke's favour in head to heads
  • this is 3rd v 9th. A recent Dortmund 0-0 ( v Schalke!!) has opened the door to 2nd place which should keep Schalke competitive to the end of the season
Schalke
  • unbeaten in 8 at home with 7 wins and a draw
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches
  • only 2 defeats at home came v 1st and 2nd
  • have scored between 2-4 goals in home wins against other teams
  • 70% over 2.5 goals and an interesting 54% over 3.5 goals
  • only 1 0-0 at halftime at home
  • have scored 9 home goals in the last 1/4 hour of matches
Hertha Berlin
  • only 2 wins in 10 matches. 3 consecutive defeats conceding 3 on each occasion
  • only 6 clean sheets all season
  • beat Dortmund 1-2 away but that may have been in a Dortmund match pre Champions League
  • otherwise lost away to 1st, 5th and 6th
  • only 1 0-0 away from home

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Schalke still have something to play for. Hertha are safe and not troubling any of the European places.
  • Schalke tend to do well in head to heads and with Hertha tending to lose away to top 6, I'd favour Schalke here. At their best Schalke could get between 2-4 goals

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

26/3

Both teams did score in the Olympiakos match and Oly did avoid the draw, but lost! It's that time of the season where complacency will set in with some teams.

Panathanaikos won 3-0,  Bayer Leverkusen did score a goal before halftime, as the stats suggested,  and both teams scored.

Barcelona won scoring 3 goals and keeping a clean sheet.

Hoffenheim do what Hoffenheim do. Both teams scored, over 2.5 goals came in, and 2 goals before halftime.

The Fiorentina match ended 0-2 to Milan. THey were layable 0-2 up but alas Fiorentina did not score.

The odds were spot on about Juventus , despite Parma having 17 matches unbeaten

A Hull red card pretty much kept West Ham's good record against them intact. An own goal and penalty though very unconvincing for the Hammers against 10 men.

Another goal before halftime for Liverpool - did you take advantage? The goal came in the 39th minute.
I was right to be cautious about a 0-0 at halftime for Atl Madrid. Their only goal came in the 63rd minute.
I got the both teams scoring part right in the Real Madrid match, but was surprised with a Sevilla win.

On to today, and it's mostly secondary leagues .

315pm - PAS Giannina v Panthrakikos - 1.85 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

4pm - CSKA Moscow v Terek Grozni - 1.47 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

530pm - Apollon Smirnis v PAOK - 1.91 away
Standout stats

  • only 1 recent league match was a 0-0. PAOK won 3-0 in both recent cup encounters with Apollon
  • 17th v 2nd, or 2nd bottom v 2nd top. Olympiakos dropped 3 points again yesterday as complacency sets in with an apparent unassailable 18 point gap over PAOK. With 3rd and 4th on the same points as PAOK, they will be kept honest until the end of the season
  • a win for Apollon will take them out of the relegation zone
Apollon
  • only 2 wins in 11 matches
  • have only won 1 away, so all other 6 wins came at home, against 7th and lower
  • have not beaten any of the top 6 home and away
  • no draw in 8 home matches
  • 67% over 2.5 goals at home quite high for a Greek side
PAOK
  • unbeaten in 5 matches after a poor run of 4 defeats in 6 matches ( how they must be rueing this with Olympiakos unexpectedly losing recently)
  • have scored and conceded in 8 of their last 9 away matches, 2 consecutive score draws recently
  • have failed to score in only 4 matches all season
  • 9 over 2.5 goals matches in their last 10
  • all defeats have come away from home
  • have played 6 of the bottom 7 and scored and conceded in 5 of those matches. Beat 16th 1-2 and drew with bottom 1-1
  • have scored in their last 10 matches

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • both sides have plenty to play for so there's no dead rubbers in Greece just yet ( it's that time of year!) Apollon find winning hard recently and only win at home v 7th and lower, so favour PAOK If Apollon score first?
  • Big goals percentages relative to Greece so over 2.5 goals and a possibility both teams could score today?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

630pm - Steaua Bucharest v Dinamo Bucharest - 1.49 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7pm - Getafe v Villarreal - 2.24 away
Standout stats

  • 4 wins, a loss and a draw.....in Getafe's favour in recent head to heads
  • this is 18th v 7th  - a europa league place might be open for Villareal but the need for points is firmly with relegation threatened home side
Getafe
  • no win in 14
  • 4 draws and a loss to Real Madrid in their last 5 home matches - a sign that the fight is still there?
  • have failed to score in 7 of their last 9 matches
  • have not beaten top 9 at home
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored 12 of their 18 home goals in the first half
Villareal
  • only 2 wins in 9 matches
  • 4 defeats and a win in their last 5 away
  • only 1 clean sheet in 15 matches
  • have lost away to 2nd bottom and bottom 1-0 so that might be the template for today?
  • 11 away without a draw

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a look at the odds of today's matches tell you that if this was a busy weekend I would not be prioritising these matches.
  • Head to heads point to Getafe. Greater need points to Getafe. Villareal's away losses to bottom 3 points to getafe!
  • But this Getafe have no win in 14 and have failed to score in 7 of their last 9 matches
  • Perhaps laying the draw is the angle. How can you trust a Villareal side with only 2wins in 9 and only 1 clean sheet in 15?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Sociedad v Valladolid - 1.48 home
Standout stats

  • only 3 rcent head to heads saw 2 2-2 draws and a 4-1 win for Sociedad. In both draws, Sociedad lead
  • this is6th v 19th,  and Valladolid are more in need of the points
Sociedad
  • 3 defeats in their last 4 matches
  • only 2 defeats at home v 1st and 12th
  • have easily beaten teams 15th and lower at home, scoring 4-3-5-2-5
  • 3 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored 22 of their 33 home goals in the 2nd half
Valladolid
  • only 2 defeats in 9 matches but 5 draws in those 9. So they are really fighting but not turning not losing into 3 points
  • only 1 win in 10 away
  • have lost all matches v top 8 away, conceding 2-4 goals
  • have conceded a massive 16 goals in the last 1/2 hour of away matches

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • the need for points might produce a surprise re Valladolid, but from a statistical standpoint, they could lose, conceding 2 to 4 goals today.
  • There is a reasonable chance for a goal before halftime but I note that a lot of Sociedad's scoring and valladolid's conceding happens in the 2nd half.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - AZ Alkmaar v Ajax - 2.04 away
Standout stats

  • 4-3-5-3-5-4 total goals when these 2 have met recently
  • this is a dutch cup match
AZ
  • no defeat in the cup since 2011 ( Ajax the last victor 1-0)
  • unbeaten in 11 cup matches at home, but 6 went to extra time
Ajax
  • only 2 defeats in the cup since 2008 were against AZ !
  • have won their last 7 away matches in the cup

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a tough match to call. Maybe we should content ourselves with a neutral goals angle? Interesting that only AZ have beaten Ajax in the cup since 2008!! AZ too enjoy a cup run
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - Inter v Udinese - 1.72 home
Standout stats

  • Udinese have won 5 of the last 7 head to heads - potential bogey team or will recent form supercede historical form?
  • this is 6th v 14th. 4th place is still up for grabs for Inter Milan
Inter Milan
  • only 1 loss in the last 7 matches came at home
  • Real trouble scoring of late at home - 1-1-0-1-1-1-1 -admittedly the only loss was the last match, a 1-2, but it's a precarious way to live at home! Best case 1-0!
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches
  • 3 clean sheets in their last 4 matches
  • have only lost to 2nd and 7th at home
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home
Udinese
  • only 2 defeats in 8 matches came in the last 2 away matches
  • very poor away from home, only wins came away to 17th and lower.
  • have lost away to top 9 in 6 of the 7 matches played
  • only 1 0-0 at halftime away
  • no 0-0 this seasonhave conceded 15 goals in the last 1/4 hour of the 1st half. away

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a headscratcher. Why? Well Udinese have an excellent head to head record against Inter. But this season Udinese are terrible away from home, and likely to lose against another top 10 side.
  • Inter have had real trouble scoring. In their last 7 matches, they have not scored more than one. Add that to Udinese's recent solid form, and if Inter score , then they might be layable if they cannot score a 2nd?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Almeria v Valencia - 2.04 away
Standout stats

  • Valencia normally have a good record in head to heads , but lost 1-2 earlier this season
  • this is 16th v 9th .Almeria need to replicate their win earlier this season as they are only one point off the relegation places. Valencia are sailing happily into mid table mediocrity - to think they were the perennial "3rd best side " in Spain
Almeria
  • only 2 draws in 24 matches were 0-0. Can we safely discount a draw?
  • have conceded 4-3-3-3 in their last 4 matches, but actually won the last match 4-3!!
  • only 1 defeat in 7 home matches, and the scalp of Atl Madrid at home suggests Almeria could put it up to Valencia today
  • outside the top 7 at home, Almeria have lost only 1 match in 8
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home
Valencia
  • lost their last 2away matches 1-0 ( both 61st minute goals!)
  • failed to score in 4 of their last 5 away matches, but strangely scored 3 against Barcelona in the midst of all that!
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches this season
  • only 3 away wins, one was v Barcelona and the other 2 were 0-1's v 11th and 18th
  • have 7 0-0's at halftime away - 50% of matches

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a must win team plays a mid table mediocrity team who failed to score in 4 of their last 5 away matches
  • only 1 defeat in 7 at home for Almeria shows they are up for it, but conceding 4-3-3-3 in their last 4 matches could be exploitable.
  • a tough match to weigh up here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Levante v Betis - 2.52 home
Standout stats

  • 2 score draws in the last 2 meetings. The odds tell you all about this match. As I said earlier, not a match I would research under normal circumstances
  • this is 10th v 20th. You feel that Betis are going to be relegated. 8 points between them and 2nd bottom
  • I'll not bother with this match. Mid table mediocrity plays a side who seem resigned to their fate.

25th march 2014

Almeria was so nearly the score draw I mentioned were it not for a 90th minute Almeria winner. CSKA were totally dominant . Zenit just won thanks to their opponents missing 2 penalties. Zenit's goals? A penalty and an own goal. Says it all really
Fenerbahce scored again and over 2.5 goals came in.

430pm - G Furth v Fortuna Dusseldorf - 1.75 home

630pm - Galatasaray v Bursaspor - 1.42 home
Standout stats
  • this is a turkish cup match so all depends on these teams' attitudes to this competition
  • Galatasary have won the last 3 home league matches with Bursaspor
  • it seems this is a 2 legged affair. I seem to remembering the Turkish cup being a league format so it may not be 2 legged
Galatasary
  • have not won in 3 matches
  • failed to score in last 3
  • lost their last home match 0-1. Will they really tolerate a 2nd home defeat, regardless of competition?
  • that was one of 2 defeats at home since the end of March 2013. The only other team to win was Real madrid
  • clean sheets in the last 3 cup matches see 3-0, 3-0, 0-0
  • only 2 home defeats in the cup since 2004 came in 2012.
  • 5 match unbeaten run at home 2013/2014
Bursaspor
  • 4 defeats in 6 in all competitions
  • only 1 win in their last 9 aways was a 1-2 v Sivasspor in the Cup
  • only 1 defeat in 8 in the cup, but as with galatasary , early round opponents probably easy pickings
  • only 2 wins in 7 aways in the cup, both 1-2
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • not the most appealing of matches. It's a case of faith in galatasary and their team. Note they lost their last home match and that might galvanise them to at least not lose today
  • Galatasary are solid at home so favour them today if Bursaspor score first
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Braunschweig v Mainz - 2.2 away
Standout stats
  • only 1 recent relevant head to head was a 2-0 home win for Mainz earlier this season
  • this is 18th v 7th and Braun are increasingly adrift at the bottom
Braunschweig ( Braun for short)
  • only 4 wins all season so statistically are unlikely to win
  • are certainly battling for it at home. WLWDD ( W=Win, L=Loss, D=Draw) That loss was against Dortmund
  • 3 score draws in 4 matches - tough to beat without winning?
  • have scored and conceded in 7 of their last 8 matches
  • only 5 clean sheets all season
  • 3 of 4 wins all season came at home. Not bad against top 6, losses v 2nd and 3rd, win v 4th and score draws v 5th and 6th ( playing 7th today),
  • Notice they scored and conceded at home to top 6
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home ( 30%)
Mainz
  • much like the CSKA Moscow match, Mainz look obviously the better side so why only 2.2?
  • only 2 defeats in 12 matches
  • 4 wins and a 0-0 in their last 5 away matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime in their last 7 matches
  • have failed to score in 4 matches only
  • against 13th and below, we have 4 wins and a 1-1 draw away. Note both teams scored.
  • against 8th and below away, Mainz have scored and conceded
  • 77% over 2.5 goals away
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away
  • have conceded 19 of 25 goals away in the 2nd half
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Form wise, Mainz are favoured here, so why the big price? They have won 4 of their last 5 aways, are unbeaten v 13th and below, and have only lost 2 in 12 matches. Strange!
  • Maybe because Braun are battling for it, 3 score draws in 4 matches only lost one of last 5 at home ( Dortmund)
  • Note there's a strong trend in both sides for scoring and conceding which may add to the 77% over 2.5 goals for Mainz away
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7pm - Dortmund v Schalke - 1.56 home
Standout stats
  • this is how it works. If they have a Champions League match coming up, Dortmund tend to lose the preceeding league match. It's happened the last 4 occasions. Otherwise it tends to be business as usual
  • both sides have scored in the last 4 head to heads with wins shared equally
Dortmund
  • this is 2nd v 3rd and 1 point separates these 2. So the odds may be a little too short for Dortmund?
  • only 2 defeats in 9 came before Champions League matches
  • 4 clean sheets in their last 6 matches
  • only 2 wins in 7 home matches and lost their last home match. Dortmund have lost 2 consecutive home matches as recently as December 2013
  • have failed to score in only 4 matches
  • 13 over 2.5 goals in their last 15 matches
  • Perhaps markedly, all Dortmund home wins have come v 11th and lower. And they're 1.56 , why?
  • 77% over 2.5 goals at home
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • no 0-0 this season
  • have scored 21 of their 32 home goals in the 2nd half.
Schalke
  • only 3 defeats in 20 matches came v Dortmund, Mgladbach and Bayern Munich
  • have only failed to score in 4 matches this season
  • more vulnerable away from home, losing v 1st, 5th, 6th and 11th
  • 77% over 2.5 goals
  • 2 0-0's at halftime away
  • only 2 0-0's
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • a tough match to weigh up. Dortmund only win at home v 11th and lower but they beat Schalke as only one of 3 Schalke defeats in 20 matches.
  • 77% over 2.5 goals both sides might be the best neutral angle in
  • both sides have only failed to score in 4 matches
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7pm - Hertha Berlin v B Munich - 1.21 away
Standout stats

  • 5 consecutive Bayern wins in head to heads
  • 5-3-7-4-4-6-5 total goals in recent head to heads
  • 9th v 1st and complacency for a Bayern side 23 points clear at the top?
Hertha
  • only 2 wins in 9 matches
  • have failed to score in 3 of their last 4 matches
  • 3 0-0's at halftime in their last 4 matches
  • mixed bag at home, but have lost to 3rd and 4th without scoring.
  • a 3-2 with Bayern at Bayern might see some fight today?
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home
Bayern Munich
  • all wins bar 2 1-1 draws
  • 18 consecutive wins
  • scored in all matches
  • 10 clean sheets in the last 15 matches
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime away
  • have scored 23 of their 37 goals away in the 2nd half
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • all about Bayern Munich. There is nothing in Hertha, bar a 3-2 loss at Bayern last time these 2 met, to suggest any shocks
  • Complacency us Bayern's enemy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - W Bremen v Wolfsburg - 2.32 away
Standout stats
  • Wolfsburg have won the last 2 head to heads 3-0
  • this is 13th v 6th
W Bremen
  • only 1 loss in 6 matches
  • only 1 loss in 6 home matches was against Dortmund
  • have failed to score in only 7 matches
  • have kept 3 clean sheets in their last 5 matches
  • only 1 win at home v top 7 was a 1-0 v Leverkusen
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home ( 40%)
Wolfsburg
  • only 4 defeats in 18 matches
  • have scored and conceded in 14 of their last 16 matches
  • have scored in the last 18 matches
  • only 5 clean sheets this season
  • all losses away have come v 11th and higher. Playing 13th today
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
  • no 0-0 this season
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • the key stat is Wolfsburg scoring in their last 18 matches and scoring and conceding in 14 of their last 16 matches
  • Bremen are in decent very recent form but then Wolfsburg have only lost 4 of 18
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Arsenal v Swansea - 1.55 home
Standout stats
  • 0-2 and 1-2 for Arsenal in the last 2 head to heads. How they'd take a customary 2-0 today
  • this is 4th v 15th
  • Man City have 2 games in hand so the advantage is theirs. Arsenal have a game in hand over Chelsea so must make it count otherwise you feel the title effort this season is over
Arsenal
  • only 6 defeats this season
  • only 2 wins in their last 6 matches includes 50% of their season's defeats
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches but in 3 of their last 5 matches
  • only 1 defeat at home and fairly comfortable winning v 12th and lower , scoring 2+
  • 6 2-0 scorelines at home
  • 6 0-0's at home at halftime
  • have only conceded 2 goals in the first hour of home matches
  • have scored first in 12 of 14 home matches
Swansea
  • only 2 wins in 16 matches, both came at home
  • have conceded 4 and 3 in the last 2 away matches v Everton and Liverpool
  • have failed to score in 8 matches only
  • have scored and conceded in their last 5 matches
  • have not beaten any side above them away from home and only won 1 of 21 matches played home and away v teams above them
  • have conceded in the last 12 aways
  • 4 0-0's away at halftime ( 26%)
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • it looks damning. Swansea have only 1 win in 21 matches played home and away v teams above them
  • a case of the "must wins" paid off for Barcelona at the weekend and this is a must win for arsenal
  • Arsenal are likely to score first, but if they don't I think Swansea could be as vulnerable as they were against Liverpool when they kept scoring but getting pegged back.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - Hamilton v Raith - 1.57 home  Just for the record really. Note this match and time incase Raith score first. I personally will only do research if Raith lead

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Leicester v Yeovil - 1.3 home  It's only really QPR which interests me in this league. Live chatters know though that it can pay to keep an eye on these ultra short priced teams, particularly at home, incase the away team scores first. I think Leicester were short priced last time, conceded, and went on to win, all without me needing to do pre-match research

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Man Utd v Man City - 2.24 away  I will not research this match as it is a derby , a "one off" , a "best on the night" match and a statistical angle in might not work. I have mentioned before though that Manchester United's stats profile this season is one of a mid table team comfortable winning against teams below them, but struggling, and oftentimes losing, against teams above them. I will not get over-excited with the 3-0 win against Olympiakos. They were lucky to be in that deep into the Champions League. The win over West Ham was hardly a surprise either.
Man Utd have won all bar one match this season against 10th and lower. . They failed to score at home to 1st and 2nd
Manchester City are definitely more vulnerable away from home which might help Moyes,. as will a Van Persie hatrick and Rooney brace.
Not a match I can predict and one to watch and gauge in-play I think

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Newcastle v Everton - 2.26 away - almost the same price as Manchester City!
Standout stats
  • both teams have scored in the last 6 meetings
  • Everton have won 3 and a 2-2 draw in the last 4 head to heads
  • this is 8th v 6th
Newcastle
  • only 4 draws all season so statistically more likely NOT to draw, than draw
  • 3 wins in their last 4 matches albeit v Villa, Hull and Crystal palace. Everton are a level above.
  • 2 1-0 wins now at home
  • 3 0-0's at halftime in their last 4 matches
  • Newcastle beat Chelsea at home, drew 2-2 with Liverpool, but lost to 3rd, 4th and 5th without scoring.
  • no draw in 7 at home
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home ( 40% of matches)
Everton
  • 3 consecutive wins , all at home though
  • have lost their last 3 away matches, the last 1 1-0 v Tottenham and Chelsea
  • only 2 clean sheets in 14 matches
  • 4 0-0's at halftime in their last 5 matches
  • only 3 defeats away came v top 5 sides
  • no win in 5 away matches and have conceded in their last 7 away matches
  • 10 0-0's at halftime away ( 71%)
  • have scored 12 of their 14 away goals in the last 1/2 hour of matches
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • can we safely avoid the draw in this match? Newcastle tend away from them?
  • both sides are in good recent form with receny wins
  • both sides have had consecutive 0-0's at halftime  so don't be surprised if it's 0-0 at halftime
  • Watch out for late goals away from Everton  - 60th+ minute
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Nottm Forest v Charlton - 1.86 home . Just a match to note here as we have an odds on favourite. I don't like the Championship, bar a focus on QPR this season. Do note if Charlton lead 0-2 for example.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - QPR v Wigan  -2.46 home

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - Roma v Torino  - 1.41 home
Standout stats
  • both teams have scored in 3 of the last 4 meetings. 1-2 (Roma) and 1-1 last 2 meetings
  • 2nd v 10th. You feel the title is away from Roma, but 2nd place is still alive, with a match in hand and 6 points v napoli
Roma
  • Roma have only 2 defeats all season both away from home
  • they have only failed to score in 5 matches all season
  • have kept 7 clean sheets in their last 10 matches
  • wins to nil against 7th, 8th, 11th and 12th ( scoring 2+ ) augurs well v 10th today
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home ( 35%)
  • 2 0-0's at home
  • have only conceded 4 goals at home, including just 1 in the first half, and scored 33 in total
Torino
  • 4 defeats in their last 5 matches, 3 were 1-0's v 1st, 3rd and 6th so Roma might have a tough time of it today
  • have lost away to 1st, 3rd, 5th and 6th
  • have conceded in their last 8 matches
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime away
  • no away 0-0's
  • have scored first in only 7 of 14 away matches
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • an inability to score in 4 recent defeats proved costly for Torino, as 3 of those defeats were 1-0 and against top 6 sides. Roma might take a while to breakthrough , if they do, today.
  • Roma seem to have the measure of teams around Torino's position in the league, so at their best Roma should score 2+ goals and possibly win to nil. They have only conceded 4 goals at home this season
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
745pm - Wolves v Colchester - 1.35 home - another match for you to select on futbol24.com and monitor incase Colchester score first or it's a concerted 0-0. I won't research this league. We can just remain away that Wolves are at home and are very short priced. Anything other than a home win can be exploited in-play.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8pm - Reading v Barnsley - 1.57 home - as above another match to monitor in-play. Reading are short priced and expecting an easy time, so anything else should be explored in-play.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Elche v Ath Bilbao - 1.95 away
Standout stats

  • 2-2 in head to heads most recently saw Elche 0-2 up
  • this is 15th v 4th. No threat of 3rd place for Bilbao Elche are 2 points from relegation so expect them to be fully committed
Elche
  • only 3 wins in 15 were at home, to nil, and the last 2 were 1-0
  • 3 0-0's at halftime in their last 4 matches
  • no wins at home v top 7 this season with 2 1-1 draws v 5th and 6th
  • no defeat in 6 at home and have not conceded in 5 at home
  • 20% over 2.5 goals at home is eyecatchingly small %
  • 10 0-0's at halftime at home is 67% of home matches - back 0-0 pre match to trade?
  • have conceded 8 of 11 home goals in the last 1/2 hour
Ath Bilbao
  • only 3 defeats in 22 matches
  • only one loss in 11 matches
  • unbeaten in 5 away matches with 2 consecutive 1-1's
  • have failed to score in only 4 matches this season
  • Ath Bilbao have not beaten any team 12th and higher away from home but beat all 5 teams they have played 13th and below including the bottom 4 ( playing bottom 5th today)
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
  • only 1 0-0 this season
  • have scored 7 of their 18 away goals in the last 1/4 hour
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Elche are trying - unbeaten in 6 at home and 5 consecutive clean sheets at home
  • a whopping 67% of their home matches are 0-0 at halftime -is that enough for a 0-0 pre-match back to lay?
  • Watch out for late action as 8 of Elche's conceded goals at home came in the last 1/2 hour, and Bilbao have scored 7 of their 18 away goals in the last 1/4 hour
  • Ath Bilbao are clearly the form side and have little trouble beating the bottom 4 to assume they can cope with the 5th bottom side today?
  • Watch out for that Elche fight though - 5 consecutive clean sheets at home cannot be sniffed at.

24th March 2014

1pm - Anzhi Makhachkala v CSKA Moscow - 2.36 away
Standout stats

  • nothing conclusive in head to heads, both teams win, then 2 draws
  • this is 16th v 5th so why are CSKA only 2.36? Very odd. Welcome to Russia!
Anzhi
  • only 1 defeat in 5 for bottom side, keeping 3 clean sheets
  • the 2 matches post winter break saw a 1-0 win and a 2-2 away draw
  • a run of 7 matches without scoring ended with Anzhi scoing in their last 2
  • only 1 win all season came in their last 2 matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home, that's 60% of home matches
  • 9 of 11 conceded goals at home came 2nd half
CSKA
  • only 1 win in 4 came v a faltering Zenit
  • only 1 win in 7 away matches
  • against bottom 5 away, we see 2 1-2 wins, a 2-2 and a 2-0 loss
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • another messy Russian match . Logic suggests CSKA are favoured here against an Anzhi side with a single win all season. It has come in an unbeaten run for Anzhi since the Winter break.

3pm - Zenit St Petersburg v Kryliya Sovetov - 1.33 home
Standout stats

  • in the world of dodge-pots, Zenit stand proud. But will they find consistency now serial-lettor-down-of-teams AVB is the new manager?
  • 4 wins and a 2-2 draw in the last 5 head to heads in Zenit's favour
  • this is 2nd v 11th and Zenit have a game in hand over top so this becomes a must win
Zenit
  • only 1 win in 7 matches and you wonder why I call them dodgepots?
  • Only 2 matches since the Winter break has seen a 0-0 at home and a 1-0 loss away to CSKA
  • Zenit only failed to score in 3 all season and they have all come within the last 5 matches
  • At home Zenit have lost only 1 matchbut drawn 3 against mid table opposition
  • only 1 0-0 this season
Krylya
  • 2 consecutive defeats since the winter break
  • prior to that Krylya went 4 away matches without defeat
  • they have only failed to score in 4 matches this season
  • have lost to 1st, 4th and 5th away and recorded 6 defeats and a 2-2 draw home and away v top 5 sides
  • only 1 0-0 away

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • a messy match. AVB is the new manager of Zenit and so we may see a change in tactics and thus stats from the past might not be relevant.
  • this is also the 3rd match after the winter break and both sides remain winless since then
  • Krylya seem incapable though of beating top 5 sides home or away.
  • Zenit though are in poor form with only 1 win in 7. They are certainly not top of my DRT trustworthiness list, although AVB might instil some defensive strength

6pm - Gaziantepspor v Fenerbahce - 1.88 away
Standout stats

  • Fenerbahce have won the last 6 meetings
  • this is 10th v 1st and fenerbahce are sitting pretty with 2 games in hand over 2nd and 4 points in hand
Gaziantespspor ( Gaz for short)
  • unbeaten in 4 with 3 consecutive wins . 3 of the last 4 wins have been 1-0
  • only 1 defeat in 8 matches
  • have lost at home to 2nd, drawn 0-0 with 3rd and beaten 4th 3-2
  • 69% over 2.5 goals at home
  • 3 0-0's at home
Fenerbahce
  • 3 wins and a draw last 4 matches for Fenerbahce
  • have scored 2+ in 15 of their 17 wins this season
  • have failed to score in only 2 matches this season
  • only 3 clean sheets in 17 matches
  • one team has scored at least 2 goals in 15 of their last 16 matches
  • more vulnerable away, losing to 5th, 6th, 8th, and 13th
  • only 1 draw away
  • have conceded in the last 8 away matches
  • 73% over 2.5 goals away
  • only 1 0-0 all season

Profitable in-play opportunities

  • over 2.5 goals has a statistically good chance of coming in. Both sides have the same recent form, 3 wins and a draw in their last 4.
  • Expect Fenerbahce to get a goal if they come under the cosh , they have scored in all bar 2 this season

9pm - Almeria v Sociedad - 2.14 away
Standout stats

  • only 1 recent head to head of relevance saw a 3-0 Sociedad win
  • this is 19th v 6th and ordinarily you'd think the team 6th would be shorter
Almeria
  • only 2 wins in 10 matches and this is a  must win for Almeria
  • only 1 defeat in 6 home matches came in the last home match
  • beat Atl Madrid at home but have lost to 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 7th
  • against 9th and lower at home, Almeria have only lost 1 match
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have conceded 14 of 18 goals in the 2nd half at home
  • have scored first in 7 of 13 home matches
Sociedad
  • only 4 defeats in 15 matches
  • have lost 2 of their last 3 matches
  • have failed to score in only 6 matches
  • only 1 win in 5 away matches
  • away from home Sociedad have lost 5 matches v top 7 and only 1 v teams 8th and lower
  • Note the score draws v 15th, 17th and 18th away
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
  • only 1 0-0 away

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Almeria tend to lose to top teams although beat Atl Madrid at home recently
  • watch out 2nd half for Almeria conceding if it's 0-0 at halftime
  • Sociedad may not lose but note they have score drawn the 3 matches away to 15th and lowe
