1245pm - Burnley v Man Utd - 1.59 away
- "Let's just hope that Burnley score first today . Chelsea scored after conceding the first goal. Manchester United came back from behind in their defeat to Swansea so there is aa precedent. Di Maria to play today? Hmmm." Oh dear 0-0 United -I should have more confidently put forward the lay of United
230pm - Hamburg v paderborn - 1.78 home
- "I personally would not trust hamburg at odds on here given how poor they were last season. They are a tad high at odds on. Perhaps lay Hamburg if they lead in the match, at shorter odds." Hamburg were poor as I thought they would be. 0-3 to paderborn
230pm - Leverkusen v Hertha Berlin - 1.45 home
- "top teams may be too much for Hertha Berlin and that is my angle into today's match. THe home side are definitely favoured here. Only one match into the new season means I cannot put up any halftime score ideas." Hertha Berlin scored first, Leverkusen equalised, Hertha Berlin led, Leverkusen equalised and it ended 4-2 to the home side. A nice DRT match for those who stuck with Leverkusen
230pm - Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim - 2.2 away
- "both teams have scored 2 goals in their opening matches.
- Based on history, both teams will score, we'll probably see over 3.5 goals and there is likely to be a goal or 2 before halftime ( lay 0-0 halftime score as late as you can)." 1-1 it ended , and another goal before halftime for Hoffenheim
230pm - Wolfsburg v Eintracht Frankfurt - 1.67 home
- "we are dependent really on last season and head to heads. These point to Wolfsburg being strong at home and Frankfurt poor away from home. A reasonable DRT match here should the away side score first ( and they might given the amount of times both teams have scored in Wolfsburg home matches)." Both teams scored again - such a strong trend here. 2-2 it ended and Wolfsburg led twice.
3pm - Man City v Stoke -1.19 home
- "1-0, 2-0 correct score for Manchester City today? they have scored a single goal in both matches this season before halftime but may find Stoke harder to score against? hull's goal against Stoke came in the 42nd minute for instance.
- This should be a Manchester City win today so makes for a good potential DRT match. We have a solid Man City side in attack who can rescue them if they find themselves conceding first." 1-0 it ended but to Stoke. I layed Stoke at really short odds but they held on.
3pm - Newcastle v C Palace - 1.77 home
- "this is tough for me to call because of the mess in Crystal Palace's management. If Pulis was in charge I would leap on backing 0-0 in the halftime score market.
- This "new ( or absent) manager syndrome for Palace makes last year's form irrelevant really as compared to this year.
- Newcastle are yet to score this season and play a Crystal Palace side whose first conceded goal in both of their matches came around the 34 minute mark. Expect therefore a concerted 0-0 which brings into play a 0-0 correct score back .
- Do note that Palace have conceded 2 and 3 this season already so this may be the time that Newcastle break their duck." A ding dong battle ended 3-3. If you took the position that palace are vulnerable presently, then there was ample opportunity to lay Palace for a profit.
3pm - QPR v Sunderland - 2.5 home
- "no patterns as yet and tough to call. QPR are yet to score, Sunderland are yet to win and yet to lose.
- Surely not a 3rd consecutive draw for Sunderland? Can we lay a score draw here if it occurs?" - 1-0 to QPR and Sunderland's draw sequence ended
3pm - Swansea v West Brom - 1.88 home
- "can we back 0-0 pre match and hope this match is 0-0 for a while.1-0 v Burnley for Swansea and 0-0 for West Brom most recently.
- As ever, the more matches I have the more accurate I become and really basing conclusions on 2 matches is not the ideal." A 2nd minute goal killed the 0-0 pre match back
3pm - Hacken v Mjallby - 1.39 home
- no research but Mjallby scored first, and Hacken soon equalised for a nice DRT.
3pm - Hearts v Falkirk - 1.64 home
- "Falkirk lost 0-2 to Rangers and I think Hearts, who beat Rangers, can certainly replicate that.
- I will look at Hearts not losing this match. Falkirk have scored in 2 matches so if they score first today, lay them." A 4-1 win and really enjoying this lesser league are Hearts
3pm - Rangers v Queen of South - 1.44 home
- No research done, but 1-2 to Queen of the South at halftime and Rangers ended up winning 4-2.
330pm - Red Bull Salzburg v Sturm Graz - 1.15 home
- "the head to heads alone suggest Sturm Graz could score. The current form suggests they could score too, but in Red Bull they meet THE dominant team in Austria.
- You know what 1.15 means? 4+ goals expected, possible win to nil, and a chance the home team could score a goal before halftime." 2-3 it ended but Red Bull did not win. Sturm Graz were 0-2 up so they were nice and short to lay .
430pm - Dinamo Bucharest v FC Brasov - 1.5 home
- I suggested laying Dinamo Bucharest 2-0 up at odds of 1.02 as Brasov were strong inplay, 2-1 it ended and the 1.02 lay rose to 1.06 to back. So near to a nice 50/1 pay off!
5pm - Chievo v Juventus - 1.59 away
- "6 wins in 7 aways in Seria A for Juventus should see an eventual win
- Chievo look like they are tough to break down but eventually concede. Their recent defeats at home were to nil, although Juventus won 1-2 the last time they visited.
- We should see a period of 0-0 here if Chievo's defence is strong. Back 0-0 pre match perhaps, although with Juventus we have players who can score at any stage!
- First match of the season so react to in-play stats." 0-1 to Juventus and they hit the cross bar countless times.
530pm - Everton v Chelsea - 2.1 away
- "Will this be as tight as previous head to heads? 2 consecutive 1-0 wins ( one each) in the last 2 meetings. If you think that will be replicated then back 0-0 pre match and hope these 2 cancel each other out. Everton have goals in them for sure . Will they score if Chelsea lead?
- Do note the large amount of goals before halftime, albeit only a small sample of matches. If this is 0-0 coming up to 35 minutes, lay the 0-0 halftime score in the hope these 2 conjure up a goal." I backed Everton at 30 when 0-2 down. They scored next but could not get an equaliser to really bring home the profit.3-6 to Chelsea
- "An interesting match and Bayern's tentative odds are down to Schalke's home reputation in the near past. I would tend to side with Bayern Munich and the market is telling us they will have a battle to win, perhaps a 1-2 scoreline?
- Delay if Schalke score first as they may keep the lead for a while before being pegged back." 1-1 it ended. Poor stuff from Bayern who did score first.
6pm - Ath Bilbao v Levante - 1.36 home
- "Bilbao should be strong at home this season. I think they have a new stadium and should be far stronger. Levante had trouble winning of late and Bilbao had trouble NOT losing at home so I must favour Ath Bilbao." A 3-0 home win
6pm - Wolfsberger AC v FC Wiener Neustadt - 1.35 home
- "9 out of 10 matches over 2.5 goals for these 2 this season.
- It looks like advantage home side today for sure . Wiener have goals in them and I think both teams could score today , so a hope Wiener score and even go 0-2 up ( they scored 5 in their last match - conceding 4 too!)" A good use of research here. IF we think there should have been goals, and it's 0-0 in the 80th minute, what do you do? Lay the 0-0 at odds on. 0-1 it ended
730pm - Panaitolikos v Olympiakos( OLY) - 1.33 away
- "only the past season to go by and it signals the potential for a 0-0 for a while between these 2 teams.
- Olympaikos did have a worrying cluster of defeats which is most unlike them. Expect perhaps a toughly fought tight away win today. You might even want to lay 1.33 Oly initially if you think Panaitolikos can remain as tough to beat as they have been" A thought that Olympiakos are more vulnerable away from home. 1-1 it ended. Oly did score first.
745pm - Heerenveen v Utrecht - 1.72 home
- "both teams to score perhaps?
Head to heads are tough to gauge as it used to be Utrecht dominant until all of a sudden Heerenveen score 4 at home! - 4 0-0's in these 2 teams' 6 matches in total this season. Don't be surprised if it's 0-0." Both teams did score. 3-1 it ended
Standout stats
- no head to heads tell us Eibar are newly promoted
Atl Madrid
- "Eibar are of course an unknown here and we have seen in leagues around Europe how the newly promoted sides have shocked or been tough to beat at best.
- Expect Madrid to win today. A hope Eibar make it tough to enable us to get better odds in play." 2-1 to Madrid.
