530pm - Arsenal v Man City - 2.12 away
Standout stats
  • the old urban myth that Arsenal cannot beat the top teams is put to the test today
  • 2-0 to the ....... Man City in their last 2 visits to Arsenal.
  • this is 4th v 3rd. The title seems Manchester City's to lose. They have 2 games in hand over Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal
  • Arsenal are 6 points shy of the leader
  • neither side has Champions League commitments anymore so this is a straight out fight for the title
Arsenal
  • only 2 wins in 7 matches and the wheels are rather falling off the Arsenal bandwagon
  • A 2-2 v Swansea last home match was such a blow , a 90th  minute own goal
  • I suppose it could be argued that Arsenal have had a tough run in lately, playing the likes of Liverpool away, Manchester United at home, Tottenham and Chelsea.
  • only failed to score in 5 matches this season
  • only 1 defeat this season was an anomolous debut match v Aston Villa
  • have kept clean sheets at home to 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th
  • are undefeated in 14 home matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home ( 40% )
  • have scored 28 home goals
Man City
  • only 1 win in 18 matches was a 0-1 loss to Chelsea
  • 14 wins, a draw and a loss in their last 16 matches and now 4 consecutive wins
  • 5 consecutive clean sheets
  • have failed to score in 4 matches only this season
  • have only played 1 of the top 5 away , v 1st
  • no defeat in 9 away matches
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away from home
  • have scored 19 of their 31 goals in the 2nd half.
  • only conceded 4 goals in the first half away but 14 in the 2nd half
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • this is a match for Arsenal to stay in the title race. The draw with Stoke I fear sounded the death knell to another trophy-less season ( join our Sunday league cup competition Arsene, you might crack that one!!)
  • these matches are so hard to solve. But statistically it is Man City who clearly have the momentum and Arsenal, with only 2 wins in 7 matches , who are faltering.
  • no defeat in 14 though for Arsenal must count for something. Clean sheets for Arsenal at home to 1st and 2nd in particular might reflect Arsene's specific tactic at home to the big boys?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

530pm - Freiburg v Nurnberg - 2.2 home
Standout stats
  • Freiburg are unbeaten in 4 with 2 draws and 2 wins ,scoring 3
  • 15th v 14th and a relegation 6 pointer

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

545pm - Vitesse v Heerenveen - 1.65 home
Standout stats
  • both teams have scored in the last 7 head to heads
  • Vitesse won 2-3 in the last meeting after being 2-0 down
  • this is 4th v 6th. Vitesse are 7 points shy of Ajax in first place and Ajax have a game in hand. 2nd spot is still a more realistic goal
Vitesse
  • 2 consecutive defeats v Groningen and PSV
  • Prior to that home loss to PSV, Vitesse had 8 unbeaten home matches
  • 5 consecutive over 2.5 goals matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 matches this season
  • have only lost at home in 3 matches v top 7
  • lost at home to 5th and 7th and are playing 6th today. Vulnerable?
  • 71% over 2.5 goals at home
  • only 2 0-0's at halftime at home
  • only 1 0-0 all season
  • have scored 8 home goals in the last 1/4 hour
Heerenveen
  • very inconsistent
  • LWLWL away recently ( L=Loss, W=Win)
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches this season
  • have kept only 4 clean sheets this season
  • 11 over 2.5 goals matches in their last 14
  • don't have a good record home or away v teams above them. LDDL away v top 5 ( L=Loss and D=Draw)
  • have conceded in their last 13 away matches
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • Heerenveen seem to have a problem home and away v teams above them in the league. Will they continue to fail to win v PSV?
  • PSV have failed to score in only 3 all season and Heerenveen have conceded in their last 13 so expect Heerenveen to concede at some stage.
  • Over 2.5 goals looks like coming in based on the stats so perhaps lay any team leading 0-2 in the hope both teams contribute to an over 2.5 goals match
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6pm - Red Bull Salzburg v FC Wacker Innsbruck - 1.1 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Ajaccio v Toulouse - 1.99 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Ath Bilbao v Atl Madrid - 2.46 away
Standout stats

  • the push for the title begins. A 2-2 draw for Real Madrid and their upcoming Champions League matches , and those of Barcelona , suggests Atl Madrid must take advantage when they can. 2.46 though suggests this is an extremely tough fixture for Atl Madrid
  • 6 wins and a loss for Atl Madrid in head to heads, albeit the last 2 were cup matches
  • Why are they only 2.46 today?
  • Maybe it's the curse of the Champions League. They play Barcelona away on the 1st April 2014 - I didn't realise Atl MAdrid were still in the CL! Well well!
  • this is 4th v 1st. Bilbao are simply "the best of the rest"
Ath Bilbao
  • only 3 defeats in 23 matches
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches all season and did so in their last match. 2 consecutive 0-0's???
  • 0-0-1-1-0-0 conceded in their last 6 matches
  • only 1 defeat at home. Have beaten Barcelona at home 1-0 and drawn 1-1 with real Madrid at home, hence I suppose why Atl Madrid are priced as they are.
  • have scored in their last 15 matches
  • only 3 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored an eyecatching 20 goals at home in the last 1/2 hour of matches. Local support sucking that ball into the net at the end of matches!!
  • scored first in only 1/2 of home matches
Atl Madrid
  • beware the curse of the Champions League, as Atl Madrid take on Barcelona on the 1st April
  • only 3 defeats all season came away from home
  • 4 consecutive clean sheets includes 2 0-2 away wins.
  • 4 consecutive 0-0's at halftime
  • beat Real Madrid 0-1 away, and beat 5th 1-3, and 6th 1-2 away
  • 7 0-0's at halftime away ( 1/2 of their away matches)
  • no 0-0 away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • this is a toughie and we need to see team news for Atl MAdrid. What a headscratcher for the manager. They need to push for the 3 points, while retaining fitness for the Champions League.
  • Head to heads show Atl Madrid have the measure of Ath Bilbao, but beating a team with only 3 defeats in 23 , and a win and draw v 2nd and 3rd at home, will be a tough task.
  • 4 consecutive clean sheets for Madrid suggests they'll build from the back, and we might see another 0-0 at halftime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7pm - Evian TG v Monaco  -1.91 away
Standout stats
  • 1-1 earlier this season saw Evian score first. Evian are the sole conquerors of PSG this season ( for what it's worth!)
  • 17th v 2nd/ 3 points from relegation plays 10 points from top.

Evian
  • only 2 wins in 14 matches
  • only 5 clean sheets all season
  • beat PSG 2-0 at home and drew 2-2 with 3rd . Also 2-1 win v 5th at home. Evian seem to cope with the big teams at home!
  • against top 9 at home, have scored and coincided in 6 of the 7 matches played
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home
  • have scored first in 10 of 15 home matches
Monaco
  • only 3 defeats all season
  • have conceded 2 goals in 3 of their last 4 matches
  • have scored and conceded in 6 of their last 8 matches
  • have failed to score in only 3 matches
  • have lost away to 3rd and 4th only
  • 3 0-0's away from home
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • statistically a team losing only 3 matches all season is more likely to be winning and drawing.
  • Evian have a great record at home v top 5 but have only 2 wins in 14 matches and only 5 clean sheets which suggests they will concede.
  • Both teams might score today statistically speaking.
  • Evian have scored first in 10 of 15 matches. You'll have to decide if they are vulnerable if scoring first today, remember they are unbeaten at home to top 5!

7pm - Gent v Oostende - 1.54 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

715pm - Plzen v Slovan Liberec - 1.58 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - AC Milan v Chievo - 1.45 home
Standout stats
  • 2013 head to heads were 0-0 and 0-1 to Milan
  • We've rarely seen AC Milan at this price in a forgettable season
  • 12th v 16th. And AC Milan's season seems over now. Chievo though are only 3 points from the relegation zone
AC Milan
  • only 1 win in 5 and 2 consecutive defeats at home. They are priced to end that run
  • have failed to score in only 5 matches this season
  • all defeats at home have come v top 6
  • against 7th and lower at home, AC Milan scored 3-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-1 . More likely to score the 1 than the 3!! And scoring a single goal means a clean sheet is a necessity
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home
  • no home 0-0's
Chievo
  • only 2 away wins were 0-1
  • have lost away to 11th, 13th and 14th ( playing 12th today)
  • have conceded in their last 7 away matches
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away  ( 40% of matches)
  • 2 0-0's away from home
  • have scord 9 away and conceded 25

Profitable in-play opportunities
  • 1.45 looks really short for an AC Milan side who have been really poor this season and scored a whole raft of single goals in home matches.
  • That said, they are on a 2 home match run of defeats which is something that needs to end.
  • Chievo need the points more than AC Milan, but scoring only 9 goals away all season is a terrible return. Chievo are likely to concede as they have done in their last 7 away matches.
  • No surprise were this 0-0 at halftime
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - Cobh Ramblers v Longford - 1.32 away
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

745pm - PSV v Groningen - 1.32 home
Standout stats
  • Groningen won the last encounter 1-0 at home. That's not what normally happens when these 2 meet
  • this is 2nd v 9th - a must win really for PSV as their title hopes are alive but Ajax still have that game in hand
PSV
  • can't do much more than they're doing. 8 consecutive wins
  • PSV have won their last 6 home matches
  • they have failed to score in only 4 matches all season
  • have kept only 4 clean sheets in 22 matches
  • only 1 loss at home was against 4th
  • draws against 8th and 10th and playing 9th today
  • no draw in 15 matches now for PSV
  • have scored in their last 11 at home
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home, roughly 36% of home matches
  • no opponent has led at PSV at halftime at home
Groningen
  • only 3 wins in 16 matches includes a win last time out, at home
  • 4 consecutive away defeats
  • have failed to score in only 6 matches all season
  • have kept only 5 clean sheets
  • only 2 wins away v 12th and 17th
  • lost away to 1st and 3rd
  • have conceded in their last 7 aways
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away
Profitable in-play opportunities
  • will this winning momentum continue for PSV?
  • PSV and Groningen could both score. They score much more often than not this season.
  • If Groningen are leading in the first half, lay them in the halftime market
  • PSV are favoured currently based on their winning run, and Groningen only beating 2 teams away from home
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

815pm - Sp Lisbon v Guimaraes - 1.45 home
Standout stats

Profitable in-play opportunities

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9pm - Real Madrid v Rayo Vallecano - 1.06 home

  • no research here really. It's simply a case of faith in the odds. Barcelona were similarly priced recently and only won 3-0 so expect perhaps a functional win rather than the mauling the odds suggest. As the odds suggest, normally we'd expect a goal before halftime at the very least. Rayo are safe in the middle of the table .
  • Real Madrid are playing Dortmund in the Champions League on the 2nd April. Will the curse strike? Well, laying a team at 1.07 is hardly going to break the bank, but should be treated as a lay to nothing.
